Now that the Christian celebration of Easter (or Easter/Passover, as I often say) begins to draw to end, I’m reminded that this moment in the calendar is never meant to stand alone.
Even though Christians and Jews understand Passover differently, and even though the Jewish celebration continues while Easter (Holy Friday to Resurrection Sunday) comes and goes, the story itself doesn’t end. In fact, if you follow the Scriptures, Easter is the beginning of everything in our story.
After Resurrection Sunday, Jesus keeps appearing to His disciples. He restores, reassures, teaches, commissions. And then comes the empowering of the Holy Spirit as we step into the book of Acts. This is the continuation of the story — the Great Commission unfolding, the gospel moving outward, the world being changed one life at a time.
So in a similar way, I don’t want to simply “move on” from this season. I’m actually going back to the beginning again.
Today I’m starting a new Bible plan — the BibleProject 52‑day devotion through ‘Luke and Acts’ on YouVersion. I want to meditate deeply, the way a cow chews the cud, bringing truth back up again and again until it becomes part of me.
My desire is simple: I want to grow. I want to understand who I truly am as a born‑again child of God. I want to know my Father’s heart, because I’m part of His family, I want to understand the authority that Jesus has given us as born again Christians. And I want to be used to help others who are still walking in the spiritual darkness I once lived in.
I’m so thankful for those who prayed for me over the years which led to my spiritual freedom into the Kingdom of God some 26 years ago, when I became a born again Christian. My life was messy, troubled, and honestly going nowhere prior to that. But through those faithful prayers, God came. God revealed Himself to me. And now I want to continue learning everything I can about Jesus and help others find their way to the truth too.
So as I savour the meaning of Easter/Passover/Pesach (from a Christian perspective) I’m stepping into the review and continuation of the story in Luke and Acts. The story of Jesus, and then the story of what Jesus continues to do through His people. The story of the Gentiles (non-Jewish) being welcomed into God’s family. The story that changed my life, your life, and the world’s story – even if the world does not yet know it.

Please come into my heart, fill me with Your Holy Spirit, and help me to live for You from this day forward. Thank You for loving me, forgiving me, and making me Your child. Amen.”
