Beginning the Journey
Beginning the Journey with Jesus
An introduction to the basics of faith

If you’re exploring the Christian faith or wondering what it means to follow Jesus, you’re in the right place. Beginning a journey with Him is the most life-changing decision a person can make — and it’s open to everyone.
A Brief Summary of the Gospel Message
- God created you for relationship with Him.
- Sin separates us from God.
- We cannot fix this ourselves.
- Jesus died and rose again to restore us.
- Salvation is a gift received by faith.
- The Holy Spirit transforms us from within.
- We become children of God with a new identity.
A Simple Prayer
“Lord Jesus, I come to You today because I want to know You. I admit that I have sinned and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died and rose again so I could be made new. I choose to follow You. Please come into my heart, fill me with Your Holy Spirit, and help me live for You. Teach me Your ways, strengthen me each day, and lead me into the life You have prepared for me. I surrender myself to You now, and I thank You for receiving me as Your child. Amen.”
Take your next step
If you’ve prayed this prayer — or if you’re simply wanting to take your next step toward Jesus — one of the most important things you can do is connect with a local church. God never designed us to walk the Christian life alone. A healthy, Bible-believing church will help you grow, encourage you, teach you, and surround you with people who can walk alongside you.
Look for a church that:
- Teaches the Bible faithfully
- Loves Jesus and loves people
- Encourages prayer, worship, and community
- Helps you grow in your new faith
- Welcomes you as part of the family
