Pressing On in Faith in Troubled Times 💪🏋

Press on

We are living in days of shaking; nationally, globally, and personally. Yet the Word of God calls us not to shrink back, but to press forward in faith.

Hebrews 11 reminds us of the men and women:

Hebrews 11:33–34

“Who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, became valiant in battle, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.”

And we are commanded to:

Hebrews 10:23

“Hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.”

Hebrews 10:35–36

“Do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward… for you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise.”

A Journey of Intentional Faith

I have been on a journey, a journey of discovering the importance of being purposeful and intentional about my (our) faith.

Scripture tells us:

Hebrews 11:1

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

This truth has been reshaping how I think. I am learning not to give easy place to negative thoughts. After all:

James 1:17

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights…”

If a thought is not good, it certainly isn’t from God.

So I ask myself: Where is this thought coming from?
There are two possible sources:

  • The enemy, who lies and accuses
  • Old patterns of thinking that have been allowed to grow over time

And so I am learning to:

2 Corinthians 10:5

“Take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.”

This means challenging the validity of the thought, addressing its root, and reconceptualising it in the light of God’s truth.

If a thought tries to land, it now has to accept this airport is closed. Only “holy flights” are permitted now.

Faith Requires a Choice

This journey challenges me to believe, to truly believe God’s promises.
Not by might, not by power, but by His Spirit.
With God, all things are possible.

And so I read the Scriptures again with fresh eyes, knowing that it is possible to walk in such a way that God’s promises become established in our lives.

Abraham: An Ordinary Man Who Chose Extraordinary Faith

God told Abraham:
Genesis 15:1

Then He brought him outside and said: “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.”

Genesis 15:5

“Look now toward heaven, and count the stars… so shall your descendants be.”

Paul writes:
Romans 4:18–21

“Who, contrary to hope, in hope believed… not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead… he did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith… being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.”

And Hebrews adds:
Hebrews 6:15

“After he patiently endured, he obtained the promise.”

This passage has been a deep encouragement to me. Abraham faced the facts – his age, Sarah’s barrenness – but he chose to walk by faith and not by sight.

That is a mindset.
That is a decision.
And we can all do the same.

Guarding Our Minds in Troubled Times

I don’t watch the news with intensity anymore. For me, it simply highlights the signs of the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.

I refuse to live in fear of wars or rumours of wars.
I walk under the anointing of the Most High God, and I choose to trust Him no matter what comes.

He has already brought me through horrendous situations – why would I stop trusting Him now?

Some of us would do well to switch off the news and stop letting the world’s noise shape our thinking.

Abraham Was Not Special – He Was Chosen

Who was Abraham?
Not a superhero.
Not a spiritual giant.
Just a man chosen by God for a purpose.

And God has chosen you.

You are part of His family.
His calling.
His promise.

If Abraham could believe God and see the impossible become reality, then so can we.

May God bless you all,

I would love for this space to become more interactive as we walk together in faith. If there are subjects you’d like to explore from a Christian perspective, or if you have prayer needs for yourself, your family, or your friends, please feel free to reach out.

You can send a private message through the site — these are confidential and not visible to anyone else. The only exception would be if a safeguarding concern were raised; in that case, it may need to be passed on to the appropriate agency or person, as you would expect.

Above all, I want to ensure that what is shared here reflects what the Lord desires to say. Sometimes the “signal” of life can get in the way, and your feedback helps me stay prayerful, discerning, and aligned with His heart. Beginning a Journey With Jesus — click to open

If you’re exploring the Christian faith or wondering what it means to follow Jesus, you’re in the right place. Beginning a journey with Him is the most life‑changing decision a person can make — and it’s open to everyone.

Below is a simple explanation of the gospel message, followed by a prayer you can use if you feel ready to invite Jesus into your life.

A Brief Summary of the Gospel Message:

  • God created you for relationship with Him.
  • Sin — the things we do wrong — separates us from God.
  • We cannot fix this separation by our own efforts.
  • Jesus, God’s Son, came to earth, lived without sin, and died on the cross to take our place.
  • He rose again, defeating sin and death.
  • Through Jesus, we can be forgiven, restored, and made new.
  • Salvation is a gift — received by faith, not earned by good works.
  • When we accept Jesus, the Holy Spirit comes to live within us and begins transforming our lives.
  • We become children of God, with a new identity and a new future.

A Simple Prayer to Begin Your Journey:

“Lord Jesus, I come to You today because I want to know You. I admit that I have sinned and fallen short, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe that You died for me and rose again so that I could be made new. Today, I choose to turn away from my old life and follow You. Please come into my heart, fill me with Your Holy Spirit, and help me to live for You from this day forward. Thank You for loving me, forgiving me, and making me Your child. Amen.”

What to Do Next:

1. Find a Local Church
Look for a Bible‑believing church in your area. Speak to the pastor or leadership team and let them know about the commitment you’ve made. They will be able to support you, pray with you, and help you grow.

2. Consider the Alpha Course
I strongly recommend the Alpha Course, which runs worldwide. It’s a safe, friendly place to explore questions about life, the Christian faith, and God — whether you’re brand new or simply curious.

Visit the Alpha Course website

3. Reach Out if You’d Like Support
If you’d like prayer, have questions, or want to talk privately, you can send a confidential message through the site. Nothing you share will be visible to others. The only exception is if a safeguarding concern is raised — in that case, it may need to be passed on to the appropriate agency or person, as you would expect.
